Tara Carolin, Director of the Crown of the Continent Research Learning Center, Glacier National Park

Tara has served as Director of the Crown of the Continent Research Learning Center (CCRLC) at Glacier National Park since 2009. She joined the Crown Managers Partnership Steering Committee in 2021 and currently serves as the U.S. co-chair. At the CCRLC, she manages research permits and oversees staff who coordinate science engagement (citizen science), science communication, and sustainability at Glacier.

Tara grew up in northern California and western Colorado and attended colleges in Idaho, Utah, and Texas earning her M.S. in Wildlife and Range Resources with a botany minor from Brigham Young University. She began her National Park Service career conducting long-term resource monitoring at the parks in Southeast Utah before transferring to Glacier 1996 to supervise the vegetation monitoring program. Tara loves photographing flowers, fungi, bugs, and rocks whenever she is out exploring the landscape of the Crown region.
